The Rundown: A man alone in the woods becomes the target of a dark and tragic entity.

Oscar is recently divorced and has taken a new job that takes him away from everything connected to his old life. Moving into the woods as caretaker for a tower in a national park, Oscar is tasked with making sure there are no fires or campers staying in the area. On his first night in his new elevated home, he finds a paper with some strange rules to follow as things begin to get strange both vocally and visually.

After consulting with Allison at the next tower, Oscar begins to see strange things in the woods, including a weeping woman who is more than she seems. As things get stranger and he finds himself embroiled in a mystery regarding the woman, Oscar becomes part of a dark and tragic story that will bring him to the edge of madness and introduce him to a dark force that is seeking to make him part of her story.

The Story: Baillie crafts a dark, tragic and suspenseful story in this one shot that is beautifully cinematic in its premise and execution. The characters are interesting and the writing brilliantly sets the tone and mood of the world of this story in a way where I felt immersed in it. I loved the buildup of tension throughout the story and even with some of the story elements being a little predictable, everything culminates in a dark and entertaining conclusion that satisfied me as a reader.

The Art: Broadstreet delivers some beautifully detailed and intense are throughout the issue. There are visual moments that are haunting and I can still see them when I think about the story itself or imagine the setting.
